Abalone is an award-winning two-player abstract strategy board game that has been successful since it was published 1990. Players push the sliders from the outside of the board moving the marbles around, the objective being to push six of the opponent's marbles off the edge of the board.
The that Abalone was published it received one of the first Mensa Select awards in New York and it is now sold all over the world. It has been played competitively at the annaul Mind Sports Olympiad since 1997 and is one of those games with the excellent quality that it is easy to learn and play but can get complex if you want to start thinking deeply. So perfect for families and children but also great for serious thinking game-players, too.
