As solenoid point motors only require a brief momentary contact to operate them,
they are usally operated by momentary action toggle switches,
push button switches or stud and probes.
None of these are able to show the setting of the points on a display panel or LED's
The Point Position Indicator board senses the momantary positive pulses
from the switch to the point motor.
When a pulse is detected it then turns on its coresponding output,
this could be connected to a LED on a mimic panel or even track signals,
and will show the setting of points operated by solenoid point motors.
The controlling software will also reject any double triggering, from the switches.
There is a memory feature which remembers the point settings whilst power is turned off,
and restores the points postion LED status on power up.
The Points Indicator can show the direction of 8 track points using the supplied 16 LEDs.
It can be used with or without a CDU and will detect pulses from +5 to +30 volts AC or DC.
