The 1958 Bel Air model year marked a change in body design to create a new sub-series. It was available as the Sport Coupe or Convertible, with impressive trim features to denote its Impala designation. These included Impala script; insignia medallions or scripts appear on the competition-style, two-spoke steering wheel, dashboard, and even on the rear radio speaker grille.
